While it has been in the works for awhile it appears that theplanet and ev1servers have now officially merged into a single company under theplanet name. While one would hope with all of the resources the 2 companies have they would be able to check everything out before going live as is the case with the real world there are all sorts of small problems cropping up.

Right now all login usernames are case sensitive (was not the case with server command) which is causing a lot of problems for users, though the development team is apparently working on that now. They are also having trouble with viewing open tickets, some ev1 clients are getting some internal server errors, though no clue yet on how long to fix it they have claimed to have at least identified the problem to track it. There is also trouble with DNS, though apparently nothing has been lost it is not possible to edit DNS zones that are using ev1's nameservers at this time. The "only" other big thing going on right now is while working on fixing everything else they have disabled a lot of the other features of orbit, I would hope once everything else smooths out they get it all up and running smoothly.

It seems like all ev1servers clients are going to be in for a rough few days or weeks, GI partners has dumped a lot of money into all of this and I do not think they are going to cause the company to fail. The real question will be in 2-3 weeks when most of it is ironed out to see just how this has helped/hurt ev1. During the process of merging together slower response times and other issues could be justified as part of the moving process, now with the merge getting close to complete clients are going to be giving them a lot less slack. I say for now just give them some time and see how it all works granted coming from somebody with all servers online and no open tickets that is a lot easier to say! Good luck ev1servers errr theplanet, you are going to need it for now while people adjust and as is common with human nature cry about change.
